LIFE of a Song

The aim of the ‘Life of a Song’ project is to analyse the economics of Imogen Heap’s song ‘Hide and Seek’ and explore its relationship with the wider music industry. From its release in 2005 to today, this research will breakdown the revenue streams for the song, as well as look at other factors, such as the impact of sync deals, remixes and samples’.

The ultimate goal of this project is to explore and visualise how the current global music industry works through the lens of a song, creating a web application that will show three major segments: the biography, the revenue streams and the songs breakdown. Together, these will map the current state of the industry and the grey areas in the system.
